CASEWORK CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS.

At W & W Cabinet Shop, Inc., we build and install our casework per plans, specifications, and Architectural Woodwork Institute Standards.

We use  thermoset decorative melamine panels or hardwood veneer plywood’s (birch, maple, oak, etc), for all our cabinet ends, tops, decks, shelves, and backs. Front and rear rails, Intermediate rails furnished between drawers and doors, and bottom panels  which are glued and fastened into end panels. All interior backs are recessed and let into dadoed end panels. Shelves are adjustable utilizing holes drilled on the 32 mm line-boring machine.

Doors and drawer fronts are hardwood veneer plywood or melamine with plastic laminate faces.

Edge Banding used on all end panels, bottoms, rails and shelves is PVC, laminate, or matching hardwood applied with a Hol-Zer Hot Melt edgebander.

Countertops are exterior grade plywood or industrial grade particle board with a standard grade laminate or solid surface finish.

Hardware though out our casework meet ANSI/BHMA 156.9-1994 Grade 1 requirements.

Leg levelers rated at 350lbs per leg support our base cabinets eliminating damage to base cabinets from moisture toe kicks are exterior grade plywood.

All parts are machined, using a Hol-zer 1265 Panel Saw to cut out the parts, screwed and glued to result in a square level and plumb unit. We install plumb and level.

We agree to good faith performance of the work as specified, and warrants that its completed work shall be commercially acceptable quality and free from defects not inherent in the nature of the work performed

AWI 1500 Finish System Standards

In the absence of clear, detailed specifications, woodworkers will furnish factory finishing according to AWI 1500 minimum standards for each system. The events are listed in the approximate order of occurrence. Some factories may modify these events while meeting the performance criteria for the selected system. The application of wash coat, filler and/or stain is included only when specified. The specification of a finish system from AWI 1500 Standard alone does not imply staining, wash coats, fillers, glazes, etc. “Natural” or “Transparent” finish specifications alone do not imply staining, filling or coloration of any type. Light sanding between the first and second topcoat is recommended by many finish material suppliers. Some finishes fail due to the application of too much finish. Comply with material supplier’s directions for application of selected or specified materials. AWI 1500 Standards do not attempt to identify all finishing systems. The design professional is free to request any finishing system desired for the project. In this instance, the system and its components must be fully described in the specifications.

Since the properties of wood are not consistent themselves, we cannot ensure that each part of the project will look exactly alike, nor can we guarantee that the project will exactly match the initial sample.
